Introduction
The Medical Administrative Assistant is required to be efficient in front office skills as well as knowledgeable in billing, coding, administrative tasks and general patient care. They also need basic knowledge of medical terminology, patient care skills and general office skills.
Medical Administrative Assistant responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Answering phones
- Processing bills
- Communicating with patients
- Maintaining records
- Provide quality customer service to patients
- Communicating with patients
- General office duties
- Be up-to-date on HIPAA compliance
Entry Requirements
Candidates undertaking these qualifications must be 18 and over.
Applicants should possess a minimum of three (3) CXC subjects in English, Mathematics, Biology or Human and Social Biology with passes at Grades 1, 2 or 3.

Duration
7 months inclusive of 4 weeks internship.
Exams and Assessments
- Continuous Internal Assessment by Tutors.
- Externally set and marked examination papers at the end of course.
- The American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) offers the examination Medical Administrative Assistant (MAAC). The exam paper is comprised of 100 questions.
